What is petchkasem rd?

Petchkasem Road is one of the most significant roads in Thailand, stretching 780 km from Bangkok to the southernmost province of the country, bordering Malaysia. It is also known as National Highway 4. The road's name is derived from the former name of the King Rama VI, who is also called King Vajiravudh or Prince Petchkasem Sobhon. The road runs along the coast and passes through many provinces, including Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Songkhla.

The road is an important transport route for both people and goods. It connects many popular beach destinations in Southern Thailand, including Hua Hin, Cha Am, Pranburi, Khao Lak, and Phuket. It is also the main route for transporting goods from the Central Region to Southern Thailand and Malaysia. Many gas stations, restaurants, and other essential services are available along Petchkasem Road.

However, the road can be busy during the peak holiday season, and accidents are not uncommon. Drivers are advised to be cautious while driving along Petchkasem Road, especially when driving during the night time due to insufficient streetlights. There are, however, several beautiful landscapes and tourist attractions along the road that offer stunning scenic views, such as Sam Roi Yot National Park, Khao Sam Roi Yot, and Khao Phanom Bencha National Park.
